In 2012 Abide Family Center was dreamed up. We knew we wanted to see families kept together and kids out of orphanages and we knew how we wanted to do it. What we didn’t know was whether you would join us. Would the Global Church stand up and say families in poverty deserve better? Would organizations working in orphan care start talking about orphan prevention too? Would you hear us? Would you come alongside us and say yes- yes to the mother in Uganda- you deserve a chance to keep your baby?
Since 2012 we have been blown away by your response. We have been honored to be a part of a movement that says yes- yes these families deserve better. We’ve watched this movement grow slowly and steadily and then intensely as one person after another asks for a better narrative in our fight for vulnerable children worldwide.
We are so grateful and honored and blown away to have you on this journey with us.
At Abide we are always looking for ways to get you more involved with this movement and help you connect with our work in Uganda. We are excited to announce a unique way to support Abide Family Center this Christmas through our partnership with Ornaments 4 Orphans!
Ornaments 4 Orphans sells fair trade handcrafts that benefit the artisans they buy from and vulnerable children around the world. Each holiday season they get churches, individuals, schools, community centers, etc… to set up a Christmas tree filled with their ornaments to sell. This year if you sign up to participate, Abide will get a portion of the sales. Fair trade products? Giving people jobs? Beautiful ornaments on your tree? Keeping families together in Uganda? It’s an all around win!
So here’s how it works:
So here’s how you do it:
Make this holiday season even more meaningful this year by keeping families together in Uganda! [And if you sign up let us know… we’d love to see some beautiful photos of trees filled with fair trade ornaments for families!]
Thank you for joining us in this exciting journey towards keeping kids in families and out of orphanages!
